"8 days in Armenian Captivity " an event dedicated to the 30th anniversary of “Khojaly tragedy” was held at Customs Academy

On February 22,  Academy of the State Customs Committee organized an event  "8 days in Armenian Captivity " dedicated to the 30th anniversary of  Khojaly tragedy .The event was  organized by the Patriotic Club operating under the Student Youth Organization of the Academy.

The executives, staff and students of the Academy, as well as representatives of Azerbaijan Student Youth Organizations' Union, attended the event. Durdana Agayeva, a living witness of Khojaly horror, was invited as a guest.  First of all, National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was sounded and the memory of our martyrs who died for the independence of Azerbaijan was commemorated with a minute of silence.

The event was aimed at conveying the truth of Khojaly to students. Making  an introductory speech , Islam Huseynov, Head of the Department of Organization of Educational and Methodological Work of the Academy, spoke about the events held at the Academy on the eve of the 30th anniversary of Khojaly genocide. Taking a brief look at the history of the tragedy, Islam Huseynov stressed that Khojaly genocide, which has become our blood memory, is one of the most terrible tragedies not only in the history of Azerbaijan, but also in human history. He noted that the victims of the tragedy is forever engraved in the memory of each of us”.

Participating in the memorial event, Durdana  Aghayeva talked about the horrors she had been through while in Armenian captivity, the ruthless tortures she had been subjected,  as well as her life after these tragic events, and the horrifying traces these events has left in her destiny and memory.

D.Agayeva also gave heartwarming examples from her book on Khojaly genocide "8 days in Armenian Captivity ", noting that the consequences of the genocide policy pursued by the hated Armenians against our people will not be forgotten, even though hundreds of years pass. She proudly stated that the blood of our martyrs did not remain on the ground as a result of the Victory gained in the 44-day Patriotic War through the efforts of the brave sons of Azerbaijan under the leadership of Mr. President.During the event, she  answered the questions of the participants about the heartbreaking memories she shared.

At the end, head of the Academy Gulu Novruzov thanked Durdana Agayeva for accepting the invitation and sharing her painful impressions of the bloody tragedy of 30 years ago with the participants of the event. Speaking about the insidious and aggressive policy of Armenians due to their fascist nature, he noted that the crimes committed in Khojaly and other settlements with a favorable strategic and geographical position are engraved in the memory of history as one of the most brutal examples of violence against humanity.

Noting that most of the Khojaly killers were killed by a brave Azerbaijani soldier in the 44-day Patriotic War under the leadership of  Supreme Commander-in-Chief, G. Novruzov expressed his confidence that the souls of Khojaly victims are  happy today.

At the end of his speech, the head of the Academy asked God  blessings to  the victims of the genocide and our sons who sacrificed their lives for the motherland.

At the end of the event, Durdana Agayeva thanked the executives  of the Academy for the invitation and  presented her books "8 days in Armenian Captivity" and "Unfinished life" to the library of the Academy.
