The employees of the European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Training (CEPOL) visited the Customs Academy

On November 24, 2021, Gabor Kemeny, the Deputy Director of the International Cooperation Office of the European Agency for Law Enforcement Training (CEPOL) and Frans Murman, the Operating Manager of the European Union's (EU) Training and Operational Partnership Against Organized Crime (TOPCOP) Project got acquainted with the activities with the activities of the Academy of State Customs Committee (ASCC).  

At the meeting held at the State Customs Committee, the head of the Academy, the Major General of the customs service Gulu Novruzov spoke about the activities of the higher educational institution. He talked about the activities of the Academy as the customs training institution and at the same time the Regional Training Center for the World Customs Organization, as well. It was stated that, the Customs Academy has identified the strengthening of international cooperation with the universities and training centers in EU member states as a priority area and the important steps are being taken in this direction. Gulu Novruzov pointed out that the cooperation between the State Customs Committee and CEPOL within the framework of the "TOPCOP" project has created the new training opportunities for strengthening the potential and professional preparation of customs service personnel of the country. The head of the Academy emphasized that in accordance with the new challenges arose thanks to the exceptional heroism of the glorious Azerbaijani Army in the war lasted within 44 days for liberation of Azerbaijani territories from occupation by the Armenian armed forces, and as the result of this Patriotic War which ended with the national victory under the leadership of the Victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, posed challenges makes it necessary to strengthen the  human resources in the customs sector of the entire country.  

The sides then discussed areas and prospects of bilateral cooperation. The employees of CEPOL Gabor Kemeny and Frans Murman stated that they were pleased with the cooperation with ASCC, wished to expand the cooperation and were ready to provide the necessary support. 

It should be mentioned that, the State Customs Committee is responsible authority for strengthening the human resources potential of the customs service in Azerbaijan within the TOPCOP project.
