Academy of the State Customs Committee hosted an event dedicated to the  May 28 - Independence Day . The executives, employees, students of the Academy and Deputy Dean for Scientific Affairs of the Faculty of History of Baku State University, Associate Professor of the Department of Azerbaijan History , Doctor of Philosophy Kamala Najafova attended the event.

First,  the memory of the Martyrs, who sacrificed their lives for the sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan was honored with observing a minute of silence. The National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was sounded.

The head of the Academy, Major General of the Customs Service, Gulu Novruzov, made an introductory speech and noted that the Independence Day is one of the most glorious and bright pages in the history of  Azerbaijan. Novruzov emphasized that despite the existence of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic for only 23 months, the measures implemented during the first Republic are of great importance from the point of view of establishing the foundations of our independent statehood and determining the future development path. The head of the Academy noted that after the historic victory in the 44-day Patriotic War, Azerbaijan has already become a state that creates new geopolitical realities in the region. Novruzov conveyed his congratulations to the event participants on the occasion of this significant day .

Later, the speaker Kamala Najafova,  Doctor of Philosophy, informing about the history of the establishment of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, she emphasized its place and role in our glorious history, the measures taken in the development of a number of areas. Najafova noted that the steps taken during that period made important contributions to the national self-awareness of the Azerbaijani people. She also emphasized the exceptional services of National Leader Heydar Aliyev in the development path of our country's modern period of independence.  At the end of her speech, Najafova congratulated the participants of the event on the occasion of this remarkable day, and wished  the continuation of such events aimed at instilling the spirit of patriotism in young people.

Following the speeches, a video dedicated to May 28 - Republic Day was shown and the event continued with the artistic part .
