The event began with a one-minute silence commemorating the Khojaly genocide victims and all our martyrs who died for the territorial integrity of our republic and playing the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Greeting the participants of the event, the head of the Academy, Gulu Novruzov, noted that the Khojaly genocide was one of the heaviest crimes committed against the civilian population during the military aggression of Armenia against our country 31 years ago. G. Novruzov said that Khojaly martyrs, like all our martyrs, were avenged thanks to the victory we won in the 44-day Patriotic War under the leadership of the victorious Supreme Commander-in-chief Mr Ilham Aliyev, who duly pursued the political course of the nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev. At the end of his speech, the head of the Academy, noting that young people have a great responsibility in promoting the truths of Azerbaijan in the world, prayed for God's mercy to all our martyrs.
Boran Aziz, a candidate of historical sciences, who acted as the main speaker at the event, talked about the atrocities committed by Armenians in the Khojaly genocide and the historical facts related to the genocide. Analyzing that period from historical aspects, the speaker said that this genocide was committed to prevent the intention of the Azerbaijani people to establish independence.
Later, the event continued with a literary-musical composition performed by students of ASCCA.
