The  seminar on the topic "Heydar Aliyev and the development of Azerbaijan's economy" was held within the framework of the series of events organized on the occasion of the 99th anniversary of the birth of nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev at the Academy of the State Customs Committee.  The seminar, which was held with the participation of the management, employees and students of the Academy of the State Customs Committee, was presented by the deputy of the Milli Majlis, prominent economist, public and political figure, academician Ziyad Samadzadeh.

The head of the Academy, major general of customs service Gulu Novruzov, opened the event with an opening speech, greeted the event participants and spoke about the importance of the seminar organized for the purpose of researching Heydar Aliyev's heritage and promoting it to a wider audience. Gulu Novruzov spoke about academician Ziyad Samadzadeh's exceptional contributions in the development of economic science and emphasized the significant role of the event in training of economists at the Academy, enhancing their knowledge and skills in this field. The head of the academy also particularly noted the close participation of prominent scientist Ziyad Samadzadeh with his scientific studies and investigations in the direction of revitalization, restoration and reconstruction of the territories liberated from occupation during the 44-day Patriotic War.

Participating at the seminar as a speaker, Academician Ziyad Samadzadeh talked about Heydar Aliyev's historical service sin the development of Azerbaijan's economy both during the Soviet period and during the years of independence. Ziyad Samadzadeh noted that Heydar Aliyev, who has a rich experience of statesmanship, prepared a development strategy in accordance with the historical and economic characteristics of Azerbaijan and national interests in order to save the republic from a serious disaster after returning to the big politics in Azerbaijan, and identified the implementation of economic reforms as priority goals. He spoke about the contributions made by the nationwide  leader in the establishment of the customs service, the role of the customs system in improving the legislative foundation, and pointed out that he characterized the customs service as one of the attributes of the state independence of Azerbaijan.

 Ziyad Samadzadeh noted that the policy and strategy defined by Heydar Aliyev in the preservation of the existence of Azerbaijan as an independent state and the development of separate areas in Azerbaijan is successfully continued by his worthy successor, President Ilham Aliyev.

The students' questions about the areas discussed at the event were answered.

Then, Ziyad Samadzadeh presented his five-volume work entitled "Economy of Azerbaijan in 100 years" to the library of the Academy.

In the end, Gulu Novruzov expressed his deep gratitude to Academician Ziyad Samadzadeh for sharing his valuable ideas and rich experience with the participants of the event and wished that such important events would be continued in the future.
