ASCCA honors March 31 Genocide victims

An event dedicated to March 31 - the 104th anniversary of the Genocide of Azerbaijanis was held at the Academy of the State Customs Committee. The event was attended by the executives, staff, students of the Academy, associate professor of the Department of Azerbaijani History of Baku State University, PhD in History, Boran Aziz and Jeyhun Abbasov, a representative of the Sabunchu District Executive Power.

First of all, the memory of the victims of the genocide, as well as all the martyrs who died for the independence and territorial integrity of our republic was commemorated with a minute of silence and the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was sounded. Then a video was shown reflecting the realities of the March 31 genocide.

In his introductory speech, the head of the Academy, Major General of the Customs Service Gulu Novruzov greeted the participants and noted that the 104th anniversary of the March 31 genocide was one of the bloodiest tragedies not only in the history of Azerbaijan but also in human history. Briefly reviewing the chronology of the genocide policy, the head of the Academy stressed that political assessment of the genocide was related to the name of  national leader Heydar Aliyev. G.Novruzov noted that historical justice was restored as a result of  great victory achieved in the 44-day Patriotic War thanks to Supreme Commander-in-Chief and invincible Azerbaijani soldier. Noting that the genocide committed in our bloody history will never be forgotten, the head of the Academy advised students to study deeply the tragedies of the Azerbaijani people, the glorious past of our people and stressed the importance of transmitting a history full of victories to future generations.

At the end of his speech, Gulu Novruzov asked God to have mercy on all  the victims of the genocide and  our compatriots who gave their lives for the territorial integrity of our country.

Afterwards, Boran Aziz, associate professor of the Azerbaijan history department of Baku State University, candidate of historical sciences, active researcher of the history of our statehood, spoke about the acts of genocide committed by Armenian aggressors against our people in March-April 1918 in Baku, Karabakh, Shamakhi, Guba . He informed the participants of the event about the Armenian terror and atrocities in other regions, based on facts and historical documents. Boran Aziz stressed the importance of holding such events to educate young people in the spirit of patriotism, emphasized that they should mobilize all their efforts to convey the truth of Azerbaijan to the international community.

The event continued with performances of  students of the Academy on "March 31 – Description of the Genocide" and "Destruction of the dream of a Great Armenia."
