ASCCA Celebrates Solidarity Day and the New Year

The Academy of the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan (ASCCA) hosted a festive event to mark December 31 – Solidarity Day of World Azerbaijanis, as well as the arrival of the New Year. This gathering included ASCCA executives, leadership, and employees from the Sabunchu District Executive Authority, the Sabunchu district branch of the New Azerbaijan Party, as well as the Baku Youth Center. The event also honored the parents of Patriotic War martyr Saleh Aliyev, along with ASCCA faculty, staff, and students.

The event began with a moment of silence to honor those who sacrificed their lives for Azerbaijan’s independence and territorial integrity, followed by the National Anthem.

In his opening remarks, Major General Gulu Novruzov, the head of ASCCA, emphasized the importance of unity among Azerbaijanis worldwide. He spoke about the historical significance of Solidarity Day and highlighted National Leader Heydar Aliyev's invaluable role in establishing this meaningful occasion. G. Novruzov noted that upon his return to power, Heydar Aliyev declared Azerbaijan as the protector of the interests of Azerbaijanis around the globe. He also pointed out that the solidarity displayed by the Azerbaijani people during the 44-day Patriotic War was a powerful demonstration of this unity on a global scale. Reflecting on the past year, Gulu Novruzov highlighted several significant events, particularly the establishment of Karabakh University, which he described as a landmark moment for the country. He expressed that 2024 was also be a memorable year for ASCCA, sharing key achievements and milestones of the Academy.

On behalf of Lieutenant General Shahin Baghirov, Chairman of the State Customs Committee, G. Novruzov extended holiday greetings to the staff, faculty, and students of ASCCA. He wished them good health, happiness, and continued success in their endeavors for the progress of the Academy.

The event featured speeches from several dignitaries, including Rena Valiyeva, Deputy Head of the Sabunchu District Executive Authority, Araz Khudadanov, Head of the New Azerbaijan Party Sabunchu branch, and Solmaz Aliyeva, mother of Patriotic War martyr Saleh Aliyev. Each expressed their congratulations and warm wishes for the New Year and Solidarity Day.

As part of the celebration, students who had represented ASCCA in various competitions, olympiads, and sports events throughout 2024 were recognized with Certificates of Honor.

A short video highlighting the history and significance of Solidarity Day was also screened during the event.

The celebration concluded with a musical and theatrical performance by ASCCA students.
