Event dedicated to 32nd anniversary of the Khojaly genocide was provided at the Customs Academy

A memorial event dedicated to the 32nd anniversary of the Khojaly genocide was held at the Academy of the State Customs Committee on February 26. The Academy's management, employees, students, associate professor of Baku State University, candidate of historical sciences Boran Aziz, families of martyrs, and veterans of the Patriotic War participated in the event.

The event began with a one-minute silence commemorating the Khojaly genocide victims and all our martyrs who died for the territorial integrity of our republic and the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was performed.

The head of the Academy, Customs Service Major General Gulu Novruzov welcomed event participants and reviewed the history of the Khojaly genocide, one of the bloodiest pages of our history, emphasized that this tragedy was one of the most terrible crimes committed against the civilian population during the military aggression of Armenia against our country 32 years ago. He noted that by raising the tricolor flag of Azerbaijan in the city Khojaly, the victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev proved that the blood of the genocide victims did not remain on the ground and that their revenge was taken. At the end of his speech, the head of the academy stated, that young people have a great responsibility in introducing the truths of Azerbaijan to the world, and wished God's mercy to all our martyrs and healing to our veterans.

Boran Aziz, candidate in historical sciences, the main speaker at the event, provided information about the Khojaly genocide and talked about its serious consequences. Analyzing that period from historical aspects, the speaker said that this genocide was carried out to prevent the intention of the Azerbaijani people to establish independence.

Then, the event continued with a literary and musical composition performed by students of the academy.
