ASCCA holds 'Let's Protect Green Life' event

The Academy of the State Customs Committee (ASCCA) organized an event called "Let's Protect Green Life" as part of the "Year of Solidarity for a Green World." The event was held in partnership with the Sabunchu District Executive Power of Baku and was attended by Major General Gulu Novruzov, head of the Academy of the State Customs Committee, Rena Valiyeva, deputy head of the Sabunchu District Executive Power, Adalat Teymurov, head of the Social, Political, and Humanitarian Affairs Department of the Executive Power, Durdane Shirinova, associate professor of the "Petrochemical Technology and Industry Ecology" department of the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU), as well as Academy staff and students.

At the event, Major General Gulu Novruzov, the head of the Academy and Customs Service, addressed the declaration of 2024 as the "Year of Solidarity for a Green World" in Azerbaijan and emphasized the significance of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29). He underscored the increasing focus on environmental issues alongside the country's growing economic potential. G.Novruzov also lauded the significant efforts led by the government in resolving environmental challenges, safeguarding the natural environment, and reinstating ecological equilibrium in Azerbaijan. Additionally, he emphasized the pivotal role of the customs service in environmental protection and elaborated on the measures implemented by the State Customs Committee in this regard.

Furthermore, Deputy Head of the Executive Power Rena Valiyeva underscored the significance of hosting COP29 in Azerbaijan as a reflection of the high level of trust placed in the country. She highlighted the importance of executing the COP29 event plan and raising environmental awareness to protect the environment. Additionally, Valiyeva stressed environmental protection and the utilization of natural resources to enhance the well-being of the populace as a priority in the socio-economic policy. She detailed ongoing initiatives to foster ecosystem development in territories liberated from occupation and emphasized the importance of instilling an ecological mindset in the education of the younger generation, as well as reinforcing environmental protection education.

The event also featured a video presentation on the theme.

In addition, Jamila Namazova, the Deputy Head of the Academy, delivered a speech titled "Green Economy and Social and Economic Development of Society," while Associate Professor Durdane Shirinova of ASOIU discussed "From the Industrial Revolution to Green Life," and Elvin Alirzayev, the head of the "Customs Work and Management" department at ASCCA, presented on the topic of "Green Food,Green Customs."
