ASCCA participates in the Erasmus+ ECAR project event
The Scientific Affairs Committee, which was created as a pilot initiative under the Erasmus+ project "Establishment of the Azerbaijan Rectors' Conference" (ECAR), recently organized another meeting. The Academy of the State Customs Committee (ASCCA) is a partner in this project and Jamila Namazova, the committee member and Deputy Head of ASCCA for Scientific Affairs, represented ASCCA at the meeting.
The introductory speech at the event was given by the Rector of Baku Business University, Professor Ibad Abbasov. He provided detailed information about the project's contribution to Azerbaijan's higher education. The professor also highlighted the success of the Scientific Affairs Committee, which plays a significant role in assessing the gaps in scientific research and strengthening cooperation between higher education institutes in related fields.
In 2023, the Scientific Affairs Committee made significant contributions towards the development of scientific research activities in higher education institutions, as highlighted in the report presented by Ph.D. in Economics, Elchin Suleymanov. The committee organized a total of ten meetings, both online and offline, along with five training sessions on scientific publications. Additionally, they conducted various activities, including questionnaires and scientific metrics, to evaluate the scientific research activities of universities. The committee submitted proposals to investigate the existing normative-legal framework related to the activities of the Student Scientific Society (SSS) in higher educational institutions in Azerbaijan. Besides, the committee discussed critical issues such as scientific journals, DOI index acquisition, and integration of scientific journals in the Open Journal System (OJS). The deputy head of ASCCA actively participated in the discussions.
During the meeting, Gulshan Bayramova the head of the University-Industrial Cooperation Department at Baku Business University presented a brief report on the project's achievements. It was emphasized that the project has gained the participation of 15 esteemed partner universities, and the total number of members and associate members has now reached 23.
Following a fair and transparent voting process, the Scientific Affairs Committee has elected a new chairman, Professor Gulzar Ibrahimova. She is currently holding the position of Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs at Baku Eurasian University. In addition to this, the committee members have also elected two vice-chairmen, Sadagat Aliyeva, who is the Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs at Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts, and Ilkin Akhundov, who is the Head of the Research and Innovation Department at Baku Higher Oil School.
The ECAR project is a part of the "Erasmus+" program of the European Union, falling under the "Strengthening of Potential in Higher Education" activity category. It is being coordinated by Baku Business University and financially supported by the European Commission. The project has a duration of three years. ASCCA joined the project as a beneficiary in April 2022.
