ASCCA holds a co-organized international symposium

On November 23, 2023, the III. The international symposium “The South Caucasus in the Context of Social, Economic and Political Progress in the post-Cold War Era” was held under the joint organization of the Academy of the State Customs Committee (ASCCA), the Institute of Turkish World Studies at Ege University of Turkiye, and Khazar University. Scientists and researchers from Hungary, Uzbekistan, Georgia, Russia, Ukraine, Italy and Iran participated in various panels of the online symposium.

The symposium aimed to review the latest events in the South Caucasus and solve problems on a scientific platform.

Making an introductory speech in the opening of the event, the head of the Academy, Customs Service major-general Gulu Novruzov spoke about the Azerbaijan-Turkiye unity and also pointed out that Azerbaijan's great Victory in the 44-day Patriotic War created new realities in the South Caucasus and led to the beginning of a different stage in the region. Expressing his satisfaction with the effective cooperation between ASCCA and the Institute of Turkish World Studies at Ege University thanked all contributors for their efforts in organizing the event.

Delivering opening speeches, the director of the Institute of Turkish World Studies, prof. Nadim Macit, Khazar University Rector Irada Khalilova and Ege University Vice-Rector Prof. Mehmet Ersan noted that the geopolitical role of the South Caucasus is of unique importance due to its potential and geostrategic position, and emphasized that the event would make a large contribution to the world of science.

Later, the symposium continued its work with panel discussions.

It is noteworthy that, last year the II. International Symposium on "The South Caucasus in the Context of Social, Economic and Political Progress in the post-Cold War Era" was held under the joint organization of the Academy of the State Customs Committee and the Institute of Turkish World Studies.
