An information session on the Thirteenth Session of the United Nations World Urban Forum (WUF13) was organized at the Academy of the State Customs Committee.

The employee of the Academy, PhD Candidate Shabnam Nuriyeva delivered a speech, discussing the importance of this prestigious global event, which will be held in Baku from May 17-22, 2026, pursuant to a relevant Decree by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev.

It was noted that in line with Azerbaijan’s national priorities for sustainable development and modern urbanization, 2026 has been declared the “Year of Urban Planning and Architecture”. In this context, a detailed presentation was given about the history of the forum, the activities of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), global housing challenges, and the directions of sustainable urban development. Additionally, students were provided with detailed information about the high-level dialogues, assemblies, the Urban Expo, and partnership platforms included in the WUF13 program.

Following the event, participants were provided with information on opportunities to participate in the forum, registration procedures, and answers to the questions raised.
