A training session on the topic “Protection of victims’ rights in the field of combating human trafficking in the Republic of Azerbaijan, various forms of exploitation involving forced provision of services and other types of exploitation, gender-specific and child-related aspects of human trafficking cases, involvement in sexual exploitation or violence, as well as the identification of various forms of human trafficking, perpetrators and victims through effective border control measures and enhanced preventive capacity in this area” was held at the Academy of the State Customs Committee (ASCCA).

The training was jointly organized by the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Social Services Agency under the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and the Public Union “Clean World” Aid to Women. It was conducted by Habiba Garibova, Director of the Center for Assistance to Victims of Human Trafficking under the Social Services Agency, Mehriban Zeynalova, Chairperson of the “Clean World” Women’s Aid Public Union, and Yavar Mammadova, Senior Specialist of the Academy’s Department of Additional Education.

The training was attended by Elmaddin Allahverdiyev, Senior Operational Officer of the General Department for Intelligence and Investigation of the State Customs Committee, Farid Ismayilov, an employee of the Social Services Agency, officials from territorial and specialized structural units of the State Customs Committee, and students of the Academy.

Delivering the opening remarks, the Head of the Academy of the State Customs Committee, Major General of the Customs Service Gulu Novruzov, spoke about the importance of combating human trafficking and the measures being implemented in this field in Azerbaijan. He particularly emphasized the significance of raising awareness among customs officers on this issue.

During the training, participants were provided with comprehensive information on the nature and forms of human trafficking, the modern concept of security, the mechanisms for protection of victims’ rights, cases of exploitation and sexual violence, as well as the methods of detecting and preventing of such crimes.

Following the training, questions from the participants were answered, and certificates were presented.
